Trauma Therapy utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) –

Briana is trained as an EMDR clinician. EMDR therapy is recognized as an effective form of trauma treatment. Trauma is not only major traumatic events, or “large-T Traumas” that can cause psychological disturbance. Sometimes a relatively minor event from childhood, such as being teased by one’s peers or disparaged by one’s parent, may not be adequately processed. Such “small-t traumas” can result in personality problems and become the basis of current dysfunctional reactions.

She love’s walking along the way with you and to work through the pain and confusion  you are experiencing. She incorporates a trauma informed mindset and promotes a non-shaming growth orientation

She also helps couples move through constant criticism, daily arguments, hurt feelings and other marriage concerns so that they can discover each other again.  She provides a blend of therapy and spirituality for clients who value modern counseling methods fused with spirituality that is rooted in their faith tradition. She also focuses on helping individuals and couples to connect and communicate in a respectful and healthy way in which promotes a foundation of acceptance, trust, and commitment and works together with you to address and minimize symptoms and guide you through the process of healing, recovery and happiness.

Below are Brief Therapy Descriptions of my Advanced Specialties:

Partner Betrayal Trauma: Whether you recently discovered your partner’s sexual betrayal or have known for quite some time this is still a traumatic experience, I can help you understand how you have been impacted and help you get your life back. I can help you co-create a recovery plan that will help you heal. Betrayal trauma impacts many areas of the partner’s life including emotional, physical, spiritual, sexual, financial, self-worth, and self-image. Betrayed partners experience broken trust, lies, deceit, manipulation, gas lighting, and abuse – all of which create a heavy impact to one’s life and relationships. This type of abuse creates trauma that runs deep into one’s heart and soul.

Marriage Therapy: I am trained in utilizing the Gottman Couple’s Method. I can help your marriage build greater communication and empathy along with building a secure foundation of acceptance, trust, and physical and emotional intimacy. Couples will complete a thorough assessment of their marital relationship and integrates research-based interventions. By utilizing this specifically designed assessment, I can help the couple identify areas of relational strengths and areas that need some improvement.

EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment to process and resolve traumatic memories. This model “jump starts” the natural healing process which has become “stuck” over time. It is evidence-based, research shows clients complete treatment in 1/2 the time of traditional talk therapy, and require less to no psych meds at the end. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. As a trained EMDR therapist I work with people who have experienced specific traumatic events, as well as people who experienced negative childhood experiences that have had a cumulative effect on their mental and physical health as adults. I help treat the root of depression, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, attachment or anger issues, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Complex PTSD and various forms of Personality Disorder in a trauma-sensitive, empathic manner through EMDR Therapy without re-traumatizing the client. I utilize a humanistic based therapy style which incorporates strength based and person-centered foundation to empower the client’s I work with.

Individual/Family Counseling Therapy: Individual & Family therapy is a type counseling that can help individuals & family members improve communication & resolve conflicts. The goal is to identify & address problems individuals maybe struggling with and/or struggles within the family system. These issues could be emotional, psychological, or Behavioral. Through individual/family therapy, I can help you/or family members set healthy goals which are designed to improve individual empowerment/family dynamics, solve individual/family problems, provide greater understandings & handling special/family situations, & create a better functioning life balance/home environment for all.
